I was discouraged downhearted and distraught,
in the wiles of the enemy's traps I'd been caught.
Hungrily reaching out for love in all directions,
being faced with perverted imperfections.
Afraid now to be tricked and abused again,
weary of the attentions offered by all men.
Suddenly experiencing unconditional love,
love freely given from God up above.
Given abundantly without reciprocation,
all the love I needed free of stipulation.
Is it really true could it possibly be,
could God above love even me?
Not only possible but also an absolute fact,
love He offers that He'll never retract.
Love offered without condition or reserve,
love not depending on what we deserve.
Not depending on anything we do or say,
not because we behaved in any certain way.
Just because we exist that is all,
God loves us without our even having to call.
Loves us and offers salvation for eternity,
accepting being all that's expected of me.
Excepted because He desires it be our will,
whether or not we accept salvation He loves us still!
I was discouraged and stumbling through life,
till I accepted Jesus' love and He banished my strife.
